About
Comedian and author Rory O ’Connor from Rory’s Stories completes two completely different trails in Northern Ireland in his episode of Tracks and Trails.
Firstly Rory sets off first on a riverside cycle in Belfast and then heads south to Armagh to follow a beautiful walk along Slieve Gullion. For the Belfast trail Rory hires a bike to explore. He starts his trip in the historic titanic quarter of Belfast, famous of course for where the Titanic was built, the site is now a world renowned museum. Rory’s route takes him through Belfast city along the river Lagan.
Once he crosses Ormeau bridge he stops off for kayaking on the Lagan followed further down the embankment for a quick visit to the Botanic Gardens in the Queen’s Quarter. He rejoins the trail where he hits the towpath at Stranmillis. From then it’s a countryside feel for the rest of the way including during a stop off to a secret meadow where he meets Michelin star Chef, Alex Greene. Alex introduces Rory to flora and fauna growing around the Lagan. Back on the bike it is on then to the lock-keepers café where he ends this route.
We often use AllTrails to find trail guides and maps and you can follow the Lagan Valley River Walk trail here on the free AllTrails app.
